This course provides a review of key recent developments in law and practice of relevance for practitioners involved in commercial lease work. It focuses on matters of topical importance for the office with an emphasis on the consequential practical implications. It includes the following topics, which may vary to ensure coverage of the latest key developments.

  • Surrender of Lease by Operation of Law
  • Lease – Right to Rebuild vs Quiet Enjoyment
  • Lease – Works and Implied Terms
  • Lease Guarantee – Authority to Execute
  • MEES – commercial lease interpretation and drafting points

This Seminar will be presented by Professor Peter Reekie - Property Training Consultant with Penningtons Manches and formerly Visiting Professor at the University of Law.  He is also Director of Peter Reekie Associates Co Ltd, which provides legal training and related services to lawyers and other professionals. He is currently a non-practising solicitor. He spent some years in private practice dealing with residential and commercial property work, worked for the University of Law and was Managing Director of Legal Network Television. He writes for publication and lectures extensively at property law conferences, seminars and related events. He is Consultant Materials Editor for the University of Law’s Structured Commercial Property Programme. He is Consultant Editor of The Conveyancing Handbook, pub. The Law Society. He is also Deputy Editor of Property Law UK Newsletter and author of Law Society’s Property Section case summaries for the monthly newsletter.
