This course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you:

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix

The course fee includes a manual and workbook, together with a quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan. Every delegate will receive a certificate to confirm they are a Mental Health First Aider.

The sessions will be held online and the commitments are:

Session 1: Monday 21 September 14:00 – 16:15

(independent learning requirement: 1 hour beforehand)

Session 2: Thursday 24 September 10:00 – 12:30

(independent learning requirement: 2 hours beforehand)

Session 3: Monday 28 September 14:00 – 16:15

(independent learning requirement: 2 hours beforehand)

Session 4: Thursday 1 October 10:00 – 12:00

(independent learning requirement: 2 hours beforehand)

Delegates are required to attend all sessions in order to pass the course.


Speaker Profile

This training will be provided by LOUISE LARKUM.  Louise is an education professional of 23 years with a particular interest in emotional literacy and mental health.  She is passionate about helping to challenge the stigma associated with mental ill-health.  She is an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor with MHFA England.  Please see their website for further information on this organisation  https://mhfaengland.org/
