FIRST JUNIOR CLERK
College Chambers is looking to recruit a First Junior Clerk. The successful candidate will be joining a hard-working and busy clerking and administration team based in Southampton. The position of First Junior is a senior role in the Clerks Room and the individual will have sole responsibility for deputising for the Senior Clerk in their absence. Accordingly, this role requires the individual to have clerking / administration / people management experience and to be able to the provide clients and barristers with the highest standard of service without supervision.
The successful candidate must have first-class communication, decision-making and interpersonal skills, possess significant attention to detail, be an effective problem-solver, have demonstrable and confident decision-making skills together with exceptional organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
The role requires the candidate to have experience in mentoring and motivating team members to ensure Chambers’ high standards are consistently achieved. Consideration will be given for the role to be job shared, subject to suitable arrangements being available between multiple applicants.

Remuneration in the region of £50,000, subject to experience

Annual leave entitlement is 20 days per year plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.

This is a full-time role. Candidates will be expected to work 40 hours per week between 8am and 6.30pm.

About the Role:
We are seeking a Private Client Solicitor with at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience to join our well-established Private Client team. You will manage your own caseload of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), and Probate files. Experience with Will Trusts and the Trust Registration Service is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload of Wills, LPAs, and Probate matters

2x Lecturer (Academic) in Legal Practice
The newly established School of Law and Society is looking to add Lecturers in Legal Practice to its teaching team to strengthen the delivery of its suite of legal practice programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Successful applicants will play a large role in delivering and further developing our newly created solicitor apprenticeship programme, LLB Legal Practice SQE and LLM Legal Practice SQE. We particularly invite applicants who would be able to contribute to the leadership and teaching of at least one of the following subject areas: business law and practice, employment law, civil procedure, wills and probate and family law. Lecturers in Legal Practice will also be expected to teach at least one of the core undergraduate units on the LLB degree. Additionally, we anticipate that any successful candidate will be able to contribute to the scoping and development of future clinical legal education opportunities within the School, as well as to the delivery, organisation and management of our suite of other law programmes. We also expect successful candidates to assist with embedding the university within the professional legal community through continued engagement with our partner solicitor firms, chambers, public bodies, NGOs and alumni.
The School of Law and Society also has a flourishing research, innovation and knowledge exchange culture in law centred around the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM), the MagPIE project (a £1.6 million funded project from the European Research Council & UKRI to develop a human rights framework relating to the protection and investigation of mass graves, and our Future Fridays Legal Skills Workshops.
