FINANCE MANAGER

Jacobs & Reeves are looking for someone to help oversee the financial management of the business and to assist them to expand and increase their profitability and to manage the financial strategy of the firm going forward.  The role will be hands on with responsibility for the day to day financial operations of the partnership, reporting to and liaising with the partners of the firm in a supportive role, but also providing a realistic voice.

The Finance Manager will be a professional and experienced person, capable of managing a number of tasks as well as leading the Accounts Department.  Below are some of the standard duties that this position will entail.

  • Managing the financial strategy of the firm
  • Managing the day to day financial transactions
  • Maximising profitability by preparing reports and analyses, including the preparation of monthly/quarterly management accounts, producing cashflow forecasts, managing budgets and overseeing cashflow management
  • Putting in place robust financial systems and processes
  • Improving efficiencies and reducing company costs
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Presenting year end accounts
  • Reconciling balance sheets
  • Understanding compliance with the SAR rules
  • Developing relationships with external advisers, ie. the Bank/loan providers

The ideal candidate will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCS/CIMA), will have good commercial acumen and strategic business knowledge, along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and influence and will be committed, enthusiastic and able to drive the business forward.

Experience in a law firm would be helpful, but it not essential. We will consider a part-time role

Assistant Coroners for the County of Dorset

Fee paid post of £454 per day

Bournemouth Borough Council is seeking to appoint up to three new Assistant Coroners to support the Senior Coroner for County of Dorset across the full range of coroner duties in order to deliver a high quality coroner service to the people of Dorset.

The Assistant Coroners will be based in the dedicated court and coroner’s office at Bournemouth Town Hall.

You will be required to carry out the duties and responsibilities of a coroner as defined in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 and associated rules and regulations and as further described in various guidance issued by the Chief Coroner.

The Chief Coroner and the Lord Chancellor would expect an Assistant Coroner to offer a minimum of 15 sitting days each financial year. However, it is recognised that there is a variance of workload in each area. In the first 12 months of appointment there is an expectation that the number of sitting days would be in excess of 15.

The successful candidate will be a barrister or a solicitor or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and satisfy the judicial-appointment eligibility condition on a 5 year basis.  They will be under the age of 70 and be subject to the appointment and eligibility conditions within the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (s.23 and Schedule 3).
